  • A great moment to connect with families is when students are registering for school. Include Hoosier Healthwise promotional materials in all student registration packets, distribute during enrollment events, and have copies available in the main office.

  • Family Nights, Health Nights, or Open Houses are great opportunities for having  information available for students and their families. Set up a resource table with the resources below and customize it with your school’s information. If possible, arrange for the Social Worker, Nurse or Parent/Teacher Liaison to pass out information and be available for questions.

  • Parent/Teacher Conferences provide schools the opportunity to outreach to their uninsured or under-insured families. Teachers can make handouts available in their classrooms or set up a resource table at the school’s entrance. Include handouts with information on Hoosier Healthwise, enrollment contacts, and other community resources.

  • Include newsletter blurbs in each month’s newsletters.

  • Include articles in the school newspapers on the importance of health coverage, establishing a medical home with their choice of a health care provider, and recertifying/updating changes.
